Mr. Peter McMurray joined St. Andrews International School, Sukhumvit 107 in May of 2013 as Head of Bangkok Schools. Peter is responsible for the 107 campus directly, but also works closely with the Sathorn campus to promote alignment of best practice and a closer educational collaboration between the two campuses, including the introduction of the IB Diploma Programme at 107.
Peter has been in education for over thirty years, with a career spanning the United Kingdom, USA, Europe, the Middle East and Africa. An IB examiner, Peter holds a degree in Ancient Greek and English, and a Post Graduate Certificate in Education, both from Keele University in the UK. In 1990, Peter was awarded a fellowship by Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore, in recognition of ' a unique contribution to the teaching of highly talented youth.' He is married with grown up daughters working in the UK.
I began my career in 1977 teaching undergraduate students at Long Island University in Brooklyn, New York. After 12 years teaching English in independent schools in New York and New Jersey, I became Upper School Principal and IB Coordinator at Newark Academy in Livingston, New Jersey, one of the oldest, but most forward looking prep schools in the United States. From there I became Head of School at Leysin American School in Switzerland, Director of Emirates National School in Abu Dhabi, Founding Head of the Western International School of Shanghai(full IB) , Head of School at The International School in Portland, Oregon ( IB with full language immersion in Chinese, Japanese, and Spanish), and Head of School at Presidio Knolls School in San Francisco (inquiry based full Chinese immersion for American students).
I hold a BA in English Literature from Hamilton College, an MA in English from Long Island University, and a Doctorate in Educational Administration from Teachers College, Columbia University in New York.
With Professor Pearl Kane I co-authored The Colors of Excellence about faculty diversity in American independent schools, and I have authored articles for Education Week, Independent School Magazine, and other publications.
Linda joined St. Andrews International School, Sukhumvit 107 in August 2008. She has a Bachelor Degree in Education and a Diploma in teaching from Massey University in New Zealand. She started teaching as a primary school teacher in New Zealand for five years before travelling and working in Europe. In England, Linda taught a wide range of ages for 15 years. During this time, she also held positions of responsibility including literacy coordinator, art coordinator, and Head of Early Years and Key Stage One.
