Bukit Nanas

It took this picture in Bukit Nanas, Kuala Lumpur on 12 of October 2019

Located in the heart of the magical city of Kuala Lumpur, it is the only virgin tropical rainforest left in a metropolitan.

In 1857, Raja Abdullah raised funds to open tin mines in the exotic rainforest. However, soon a war started (the Klang War) the mines were destroyed and replaced for growing pineapples to feed the hungry soldiers. In 1906, some of this forest area was preserved as a forest reserve and since then has regenerated to become a virgin rainforest in the heart of Kuala Lumpur.

Rainforests are the lungs of our Earth. Therefore, preserving them is important for achieving sustainable future for generations to come.
